The popular, proven Long Cast model in a traditional version with a rear-mounted baitrunner drag.
Its main feature is that it was built for long-distance casting! The large-diameter spool allows the main line to leave with minimal resistance, even on powerful casts. The large spool diameter is also gentler on the line, reducing line deformation and the risk of tangles. For reliable, stable operation over the long term, the reel uses a worm-shaft spool oscillation system, normally found only on high-quality reels designed for heavy loads. This system also ensures excellent line lay. The reel includes two further important innovations: a rotor brake that blocks rotor movement when the bail is open, preventing accidental bail closure during casting, and an anti-tangle frame beneath the spool that prevents the main line from winding under it.
The spools from the previous and current Long Cast reels are compatible, identical in size and interchangeable. The Long Cast LCS 4500 is surprisingly light at just 590 g despite its robust design and substantial internal mechanisms. Its main front drag sits between a traditional long-stroke drag and a quick drag: it reaches full open or closed position in 2.5–3 turns rather than one. It can be fine-tuned much more precisely than the previous version. The baitrunner is activated using the control at the rear of the reel, allowing free-spool mode; its resistance is also adjusted with the rear dial.
